Ubicquia's UbiHub AI+ Intelligent Streetlight has been recognized by TIME magazine as one of the best inventions of 2026. This device transforms existing streetlamps into data sources through a low-profile hub that can be retrofitted to the top of poles. The UbiHub AI+ can host various attachments, including sensors designed to detect if a streetlight fails.
According to Ubicquia CEO Ian Aaron, the technology has already seen deployment in cities such as Los Angeles. There, the Department of Transportation has utilized the system for traffic management. Additionally, maintenance staff at the University of Montana campus are employing the UbiHub AI+ to identify localized power outages.
