U.S. Central Command announced that its forces disabled an oil tanker on July 15 after the vessel allegedly ignored repeated warnings and attempted to proceed to an Iranian port in violation of a U.S. naval blockade.

Officials stated that Hellfire missiles were fired into the tanker's smokestack, rendering it incapable of continuing its journey toward Iran. The action was taken to enforce the blockade, according to the command's statement.
