The U.S. Army conducted a test on August 31 showcasing a "hunter-killer" system where a Black Hawk helicopter launched a drone capable of autonomously identifying targets. This demonstration, part of Project Convergence Capstone 6, aimed to validate the potential of launched effects to enhance sensing and weapons capabilities deep within enemy territory while minimizing crew exposure.

The footage shows an H-60M Black Hawk helicopter releasing an Anduril Altius-700 loitering munition. This munition is designed to locate a target independently, share that data with other assets in a formation, and then execute a strike. The Altius-700 has been in testing with the Army since its initial live-fire demonstration in 2024. This initiative aligns with the Army's broader strategy to integrate advanced, autonomous systems into its operations.
