Tyreek Hill Surfaces as Potential Target for Chiefs After Receiver Injuries

The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly contacted the agent of wide receiver Tyreek Hill, indicating a potential mid-season reunion for the former All-Pro and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. This development follows significant injuries to current Chiefs receivers Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice during the team's Week 4 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Thornton sustained what is believed to be a season-ending broken ankle, while Rice is sidelined indefinitely with a hamstring strain. The injuries have left the undefeated Chiefs (4-0) facing concerns about their receiving corps depth.

Hill, who was a key player in the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIV victory in February 2020, has been a free agent since suffering a season-ending knee injury last season as a member of the Miami Dolphins. He was released by the Dolphins in February. Reports suggest that players like Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones remain in favor of a reunion.

The primary reported obstacle to a potential signing is Hill's recovery from knee surgery. He has recently posted videos of himself engaging in beach workouts, though the effectiveness of this training for a return to NFL action remains to be seen.

Hill signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the Dolphins in 2022 but appeared in only four games in 2025 before his injury. The Chiefs are reportedly assessing his availability and recovery status through his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. The Daily Mail has sought comment from Rosenhaus and Kansas City Chiefs spokespeople regarding the matter.
