Tyler Wade, Ex of Alix Earle, Retires from MLB
The former Angels utilityman announced his retirement from baseball on X, thanking teams, coaches, and fans.
Tyler Wade, the former Los Angeles Angels utilityman who previously dated social media personality Alix Earle, has announced his retirement from Major League Baseball.
Wade, 31, shared his decision on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday afternoon, stating, "it’s time to move on." He expressed gratitude for his baseball career, writing, "Thank you, baseball. You gave me more than I could have ever dreamed of."
Wade was drafted by the New York Yankees in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB draft and made his major league debut with the team in 2017. He played for the Yankees until 2021 before being traded to the Angels. His career also included stints with the Oakland Athletics and the San Diego Padres, and he attempted to make the Texas Rangers' roster this season.
In his retirement announcement, Wade extended thanks to all the teams he played for, as well as the coaches, staff, trainers, and fans who contributed to his career. He also conveyed his sentiment to his former teammates, saying, "I’m going to miss the grind, the clubhouse, the competition, and being in the jungle every day with the guys."
Wade played in a total of 506 games across nine MLB seasons. Off the field, his relationship with Alix Earle garnered attention. They dated for several months in 2022, reportedly ending their relationship due to Wade's discomfort with Earle's burgeoning social media career, as she shared in a 2023 podcast episode.
