Two individuals, a 17-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man, were shot and wounded in a daylight attack Wednesday afternoon near Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Montgomery Street.
Both victims were transported to Kings County Hospital Center and are in stable condition. The 17-year-old sustained an arm injury, while the 27-year-old was hit in both the arm and stomach. Law enforcement sources indicated that both victims have minimal or no criminal records and it was unclear if they were specifically targeted.
The suspected gunman, described as wearing all black clothing, fled the scene on foot. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Evidence at the scene included a visible blood stain on the sidewalk, a shopping bag, and a pair of sneakers.
This shooting follows another incident Tuesday evening on the Lower East Side, where a 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg near Stanton Street and the Bowery. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. Two other teenagers, aged 14 and 17, were arrested in relation to the Tuesday shooting and charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Investigators are reviewing footage related to that incident, which reportedly shows the younger teen taking a gun from the 17-year-old's waistband, though it remained undetermined who fired the weapon. The recovered firearm was turned over to authorities.
