Two University of Mississippi students were found dead on Monday in separate incidents, with packaged kratom discovered at both scenes, authorities reported.

Dispatch audio from one of the incidents described a "possible OD" and indicated that the individual was not breathing. Responders arrived at the scene in under a minute after receiving the call.

The Lafayette County Metro Narcotics team is leading the investigation into the students' deaths. Officials stated Tuesday that the two cases are not believed to be connected.
