Two University of Mississippi Students Found Dead Amid Kratom Investigation

Two University of Mississippi students have been found dead at separate locations as part of a drug-related investigation. Lafayette County Metro Narcotics confirmed that law enforcement is investigating the deaths of two college-aged individuals discovered at different sites.

While authorities have not yet confirmed if the deaths are connected or if kratom contributed to either fatality, packaged kratom sold from a retail store was recovered in both investigations. In a statement, the agency said, "We do not have confirmed information indicating that kratom or any other substance was a contributing factor in either death."

The University of Mississippi confirmed that both deceased individuals were students there. "The University is heartbroken by the recent loss of two students and extends our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones during this difficult time," a campus spokesman said.
