Two teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the stabbing death of a 17-year-old boy in Luton. Police were called to Kingsway Recreation Ground shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Friday following reports of disorder where several teenagers were seen carrying large knives.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with multiple stab wounds but died a short time later. Authorities stated that the two suspects, initially arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, have now been further arrested for murder.
One of the arrested boys is currently receiving hospital treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The identity of the victim has not yet been formally released, but his family is being supported by trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gardener described the incident as "horrific violence" and expressed condolences to the victim's family. He added that increased high-visibility patrols are in place in the area, and officers are engaging with the local community.
Police have also urged the public not to share any distressing videos or images related to the incident, as it could be upsetting for the family and potentially interfere with the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Bedfordshire Police via their website or by calling 101, referencing Operation Crownbeacon.
