Two Teenagers Arrested in California for Alleged School Shooting Plot
Authorities said the investigation began in October after the FBI alerted local police to social media threats.
Two 15-year-old students have been arrested on suspicion of plotting a school shooting at Corona High School in California, according to the City of Corona Police Department.
The investigation into the alleged plot started in early October when the FBI notified local authorities about social media threats. A collaborative effort led to the arrest of one 15-year-old female student from Corona High School. Further inquiries resulted in the identification and requested arrest of a second 15-year-old female student who attends Norco High School.
Police stated that the two suspects had spent several months researching school shootings and discussed methods for carrying out an attack at Corona High School on an unspecified future date. Communications indicated the suspects discussed how to obtain weapons, but they had not yet acquired any, and no weapons were found during searches.
Both suspects are currently in custody on charges of conspiracy to commit murder. The investigation is continuing in partnership with the FBI. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that a potential act of targeted violence against a Southern California high school was disrupted before anyone was harmed, emphasizing the FBI's commitment to protecting children and confronting threats against schools.
