Two teachers at The SEED School of Miami, who were formerly in a relationship and have a child together, were arrested following a physical altercation that occurred on school property. The incident began as a conversation in a classroom and escalated into violence, leading to charges of domestic violence battery for both individuals.

According to a Miami-Dade Schools Police arrest affidavit, one of the teachers, Terrod Tiyan Torrence, 36, had left a note for the other teacher, Odiria Biggins, asking to speak. Biggins agreed to meet Torrence in Classroom 119 on July 17.

Investigators stated that the conversation quickly turned physical. Biggins told police that Torrence repeatedly punched her in the head and then slammed her head against a wall, causing her to lose consciousness. After regaining consciousness, Biggins reportedly went to her vehicle, retrieved pepper spray, and later found Torrence on campus, where she sprayed him. Surveillance video captured Biggins entering the classroom where Torrence was, and both teachers emerged shortly thereafter. Torrence appeared to have difficulty walking and showed signs of eye irritation before being assisted by school staff and transported to a hospital for treatment.

Biggins was arrested on July 22 and charged with discharging a weapon on school property for the pepper spray incident, as well as misdemeanor domestic violence battery. A judge set her bond at $2,000.

Torrence was arrested on July 23 and also charged with misdemeanor domestic violence battery. Court records indicate he was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. A judge imposed a $2,000 bond and a pretrial order prohibiting him from contacting Biggins. His arraignment is scheduled for September 23.

It remains unclear what initially triggered the argument between the two teachers, or if any students were present during the confrontation. Inquiries have been made to the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department and The SEED School of Miami regarding the incident and the employment status of the teachers involved.
