A massive explosion destroyed a home in Canton, Ohio, early Thursday morning, leaving two people with severe burns. The incident, which occurred around 4 a.m., was powerful enough to be heard and felt for miles, with some residents describing it as sounding like a bomb or missile.
Doorbell camera footage captured the moment of the blast, which authorities said propelled two individuals from the structure. One survivor was found in the street with burns covering approximately 80% of their body and was transported to a local hospital. Firefighters later located a second survivor, an adult male, blocks away, also suffering from severe burns. The circumstances of how the second individual ended up so far from the explosion site remain unclear.
The explosion caused widespread damage to neighboring homes, with some sustaining fire and structural damage. Debris was scattered throughout the neighborhood, and multiple power lines were brought down, creating hazards for residents and emergency responders. Utility companies were called to the scene to address electrical issues.
The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
