Two Navy Aviators Eject Safely During Carrier Landing; Four Sailors Injured

Two U.S. Navy aviators ejected safely from their aircraft during landing operations aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, an aircraft carrier operating off the coast of Virginia on Monday. The incident, characterized by the Navy as a "mishap," also resulted in injuries to four sailors on the vessel.
The aviators, assigned to Carrier Air Wing 3, were rescued by search and rescue personnel and returned to the ship. They are currently being evaluated by medical staff. Of the four injured sailors, one was transported to a Norfolk-area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, while the others received medical care aboard the ship.
The type of aircraft involved and the specific cause of the mishap were not immediately disclosed by the Navy. The aircraft was reportedly engaged in recovery operations at the time of the incident.
The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, was commissioned in 1977.
