Two men have been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old plumber in Melbourne's north. Daniel Hussein was killed by gunfire in the car park of HR Uren Reserve on Victoria Drive in Thomastown about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. He was engaged to be married.
Police arrested Marcus Jajou, 19, and Lucas Jajou, 20, along with a 19-year-old woman in Deer Park on Wednesday evening. The two men, both from Donnybrook, were charged with murder on Thursday. They were remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The woman was released without charge pending further inquiries.
Investigators allege the parties were known to each other and that the incident was a targeted attack. Crime scene tape was removed from the car park on Monday morning.
Hussein's uncle, Abdallah Hussein, described the loss as profound. Loved ones gathered for Hussein's funeral and burial in Melbourne's northern suburbs on Wednesday.
Police have stated they do not believe the shooting is linked to other recent incidents in the Melbourne area.
