Two helicopter crew members died Sunday when their aircraft crashed while battling a wildfire in Yosemite National Park. The helicopter crashed shortly before 3 p.m. in Mariposa County with two people on board, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Aerospace company Precision confirmed the deaths of both crew members.
The crash occurred as firefighters were working to contain the Dome Fire, which had burned more than 3,000 acres since igniting on September 15. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA.
