Two individuals were found shot inside a vehicle on the University of Chicago campus on Thursday evening, according to reports. Police responded to the 5900 block of South Ellis near the Midway Plaisance Ice Skating Rink and Harper Quad around 5:35 p.m. where they discovered a 27-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man inside a damaged vehicle.
Both victims sustained gunshot wounds to the head. They were transported to the university hospital in critical condition but were pronounced deceased. It remains unclear if the victims had any affiliation with the university. A firearm was recovered at the scene. Evidence suggests the vehicle may have crashed during or after the shooting.
The Chicago Police Department stated that the incident is under investigation, and further details could not be confirmed at this time. University police were contacted for additional information.
