Two Convicted in Death of Telemundo Reporter Adan Manzano
A jury found Danette Colbert guilty of negligent homicide and racketeering, while her accomplice Rickey White was convicted of racketeering in connection with the reporter's death.
Danette Colbert, identified as the "Bourbon Street Hustler," has been convicted of negligent homicide and racketeering in the death of 27-year-old Telemundo reporter Adan Manzano. Manzano died in New Orleans in the lead-up to Super Bowl LIX. Colbert's accomplice, Rickey White, was also convicted of racketeering.
The Jefferson Parish district attorney's office described Colbert and White as "a prostitute and her pimp," alleging they engaged in a long-term scheme targeting tourists in New Orleans. According to prosecutors, Colbert and other prostitutes would lure men to hotel rooms, secretly administer sedatives, and then steal valuables such as cell phones, credit cards, and watches.
Manzano was reportedly their last victim. Colbert and White were initially charged with manslaughter in his death, but a jury found Colbert guilty of the lesser charge of negligent homicide. White was acquitted of manslaughter.
Colbert, 49, was arrested on February 7 after Manzano was found dead in a hotel room. White, 35, was also arrested in connection with the case.
Sentencing for Colbert and White is scheduled for September 28. The negligent homicide conviction carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. Colbert had previously been sentenced to 25 years in prison for an unrelated case last year.
Manzano's death occurred less than a year after his wife, Ashleigh Boyd, died in a car accident in 2024. Their young daughter is now orphaned.
Exclusive surveillance images obtained by the Daily Mail showed Colbert and Manzano entering a hotel in Kenner, Louisiana, together on February 5, the last known photograph of Manzano alive. Colbert left the hotel alone.
An autopsy revealed Manzano died from a combination of alcohol, benzodiazepines, and positional asphyxia, having suffocated with his face in a pillow. Prosecutors stated that after leaving Manzano's hotel room, Colbert used one of his stolen credit cards to purchase a phone charger. She also reportedly filmed videos inside Manzano's hotel room while he was dying or dead, including footage of information related to the Super Bowl, such as the team hotels and practice locations.
