Two California Roads Named Among World's Most Haunted

California boasts two of the world's most haunted roads, according to recent paranormal rankings, just in time for Halloween.

One of these routes is Prospector's Road, a three-mile stretch located between Coloma and Garden Valley in Northern California. Its history is tied to the gold rush era of the mid-19th century. Local legend tells of a miner who was murdered by jealous companions after boasting about his claim in a saloon. His ghost is said to haunt the road, warning trespassers to "Get off my claim."

According to Weird California, the area saw numerous mining-related deaths in the 1800s due to cave-ins, bandit attacks, and suicides, contributing to the road's spectral reputation.

LA Ghost Tour notes accounts of disembodied voices, sighing, gasping, and the sound of running footsteps when no one is present. Transparent, full-bodied apparitions have also been reported throughout the property.
