Two ATMs Stolen in Scotland in Early Morning Raid Using Horsebox
Police are investigating a "planned series of crimes" after cash machines were ripped from a bank and transported in a horsebox.
Two cash machines were stolen from a Royal Bank of Scotland branch in Peebles, Scotland, during an early morning raid that involved a horsebox and a forklift.
The incident occurred around 3:00 AM on the town's Eastgate, leading to the closure of the High Street to vehicles. A telescopic forklift was left abandoned at the scene, and the nearby bus stop is temporarily out of service.
Police Scotland reported that a grey Audi saloon, a grey Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck towing a horsebox, and a Manitou telehandler were observed in the area. The forklift was used to ram the bank and extract the two cash machines, which were then loaded onto the horsebox. The Isuzu pick-up and horsebox had been reported stolen, and the vehicle used to damage the bank was found abandoned at the location.
Three men, all dressed in dark clothing, were seen departing the scene in the Audi and the pick-up truck, heading towards Northgate. Detective Inspector Keith Sinclair described the event as a "planned series of crimes" and stated that extensive inquiries, including CCTV analysis and witness interviews, are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects. Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the vehicles or witnessed the incident.
