Two Arrested in Manchester in Connection With Suspected Plot Targeting Jewish Community
Police disrupted a long-running investigation into a suspected terrorist plot aimed at the Jewish community in Manchester.
Two men in their 30s were arrested Sunday in Manchester, England, on suspicion of terrorism offenses related to a plot targeting the city's Jewish community, authorities announced. The arrests were made in Newton Street as part of a proactive investigation.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans of the Metropolitan Police stated that the disruption of the suspected plot is a result of a long-running investigation. She acknowledged that the news might cause additional concern for the Jewish community, particularly given the current High Holy day period.
Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. Counter-terrorism police are focused on identifying and disrupting individuals who intend to cause harm within communities.
