Two Amazon Workers Shot Outside Brooklyn Facility
A woman was struck in the chest and a man in the shoulder during a late-night incident near the Red Hook fulfillment center.
Two Amazon employees were shot late Saturday night outside a fulfillment center in Red Hook, Brooklyn, according to police and law-enforcement sources. The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. near the Amazon facility on Bay Street.
A 25-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, and a 23-year-old man was shot in the shoulder. Both victims were transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
The female victim, identified by family as Dominique Dunlap, was reportedly walking back to the facility after visiting a deli when she was shot. Her family stated in a fundraising appeal that she was an "innocent bystander" who was not the intended target. "Although we are incredibly grateful that she survived, the bullet remains lodged in her body, and she now faces a difficult road to physical and emotional recovery," her family wrote.
The male victim was accompanying his girlfriend, also an Amazon employee, from a bus stop to the building when the shooting took place. His girlfriend was unharmed.
Police are searching for two male suspects who fled the scene in a white sedan. The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation.
