Two 19-Year-Old Friends Killed in South Yorkshire Crash
Grieving families pay tribute to Jacob Patching and Jacob Skidmore, who died after their BMW collided with a lamppost.
Two 19-year-old friends, Jacob Patching and Jacob Skidmore, died on September 26 when the BMW they were traveling in crashed into a lamppost. The incident occurred on East Bawtry Road in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
Emergency services responded to the scene, and both individuals were pronounced dead around 6:45 p.m. South Yorkshire Police are providing support to the families through family liaison officers.
Flowers have been placed at the crash site. Patching's family remembered him as "a loyal, hardworking, caring and kind young man with a contagious sense of humour." They expressed the profound impact of his loss, stating, "Our whole lives have changed beyond measure in an instant and the pain left behind is immeasurable. Nothing will ever be the same without him." The family also extended gratitude to the emergency services and the community.
Skidmore's family shared their appreciation for the support they have received, describing him as "loved by all who knew him." They noted his passion for "mending anything with an engine," a trait well-known to his friends. The family added, "He has left a big hole in our family that will never close. Forever in our hearts. Love Mum, Dad, Brothers and Sister."
An investigation into the collision is ongoing. South Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and urge anyone with information or footage related to the incident to come forward. The force stated, "Our thoughts remain with the families, friends, and wider community affected by the loss of Jacob and Jacob."
