Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a medical emergency at a residence on South Victoria Avenue in Hyde Park on Monday morning, where they discovered two deceased toddler brothers. The call came in around 7:30 a.m. after paramedics had already determined the children had died.
Investigators are currently examining the possibility of a drug overdose as the cause of death, pending toxicology results. Officials have indicated that fentanyl may be involved, though the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released official findings. Autopsies have been performed on both children.
The LAPD questioned family members as part of their investigation before releasing them. The medical examiner's office is awaiting toxicology reports to determine the official cause and manner of the boys' deaths.
