TV Shows '9-1-1' and '9-1-1: Nashville' Engage in Mini Crossover
A familiar emergency from the original series recurs in a new episode of '9-1-1: Nashville,' prompting a call for advice.

The universes of "9-1-1" and "9-1-1: Nashville" briefly collided in the latter's second season, episode two, titled "Boys and Boils." The episode featured a scenario reminiscent of a memorable event from the original "9-1-1" series: the rescue of a baby trapped within a wall.
In the "9-1-1: Nashville" episode, Captain Don Hart and the 113 emergency crew are called to a unique situation involving a crying baby inside a wall. Ryan, a character from "9-1-1: Nashville," contacts Buck from the original "9-1-1" series for guidance. Buck, along with Chimney, were involved in a similar rescue in the first episode of "9-1-1." Despite being in the midst of a chaotic volcano emergency in Los Angeles, Buck and Chimney offer their expertise remotely.
Buck advises Ryan that the baby is likely in the plumbing system and stresses the importance of shutting off the building's water supply to prevent flushing. On "9-1-1: Nashville," Captain Hart orders the water main shut off and uses a thermal gun, while also instructing Cammie to contact residents and ensure no one flushes toilets or uses dishwashers.
Chimney joins the video call, expressing surprise at the situation after initially questioning Buck's focus amidst the Los Angeles crisis. He then chimes in, greeting the 113 and deferring to Buck to explain how the original rescue was conducted.
This mini crossover follows a similar brief interaction in Season 1 between dispatchers Cammie and Maddie. Showrunner Rashad Raisani has indicated plans for future, larger crossovers, potentially involving characters from "9-1-1: Lone Star" around the eighth or ninth episode of "9-1-1: Nashville's" second season.
There is also speculation about a potential crossover involving Ryan Phillippe, who stars in "9-1-1: Nashville," and Jennifer Love Hewitt from "9-1-1," which could reunite them from their "I Know What You Did Last Summer" days. Phillippe has hinted at the possibility of such an event.
New episodes of "9-1-1" and "9-1-1: Nashville" air Thursdays on ABC at 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. ET, respectively, with next-day streaming available on Hulu.
