Amy Childs, a personality from the reality television series "The Only Way Is Essex" (TOWIE), has reported that her £1.7 million mansion in Essex was ransacked by burglars while she was on a family holiday. Childs and her family returned from their trip to find their home "completely trashed."
A representative for Childs confirmed the burglary, stating that no one was harmed, which is the primary concern, and that police are investigating.
"She's absolutely heartbroken," a source told the Daily Mail. "She is just grateful that she and the kids were away when it happened, because it would have been terrifying if they had been there when the burglars came. She can't even bear to think about that but it's still left her shaken."
The exact items stolen are not yet clear as the property was reportedly heavily damaged. Police and forensics have been to the scene.
Childs' home is the latest in a string of celebrity residences to be targeted. The report mentions that homes belonging to fellow TOWIE star Megan McKenna and the couple Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright have also been broken into.
Separately, Megan McKenna recently revealed her decision to relocate to Germany following a traumatic burglary at her former UK home approximately two years ago. McKenna described the incident as involving "machete-wielding intruders" who broke into her house while she was alone. She recounted waking to find her home being shaken and masked men attempting to breach her bedroom wall with a baseball bat. McKenna stated she confronted the intruders, who then took her jewelry, after fearing for her dog's safety. She has since expressed feeling unsafe in her own home and has moved to Germany, where her footballer husband, Oliver Burke, plays.
Amy Childs, 36, and her husband Billy Delbosq, 43, are parents to two-year-old twins, Billy and Millie. Childs also has an eight-year-old daughter, Polly, and a seven-year-old son, Ritchie, from previous relationships.
