Alysia Vasey, known as the "Yorkshire Forager" and a regular on "James Martin's Saturday Morning," has disclosed the end of her marriage and the significant personal and financial challenges she has faced.
Vasey, 54, revealed in a social media video that her marriage ended months ago, despite having married last year. She stated that she was left with only five bin bags of clothes following the separation. "Five bin liners of clothes were all I were left with at 54-years-old a week before Christmas," Vasey wrote in a post, detailing the difficult circumstances.
She explained that in addition to the divorce, she had to purchase essential household items like coal, replace log burners, and buy a new cooker and fridge for Christmas, spending her grandmother's inheritance. "I've managed to rebuild and come out the other end, it's just tough," she told her followers, acknowledging the hardship.
Vasey admitted that she felt taken advantage of and lost a significant amount of money. "Everything. Absolutely everything. It's been a struggle. Absolute struggle these last eight, nine months. I didn't expect it," she said, expressing embarrassment but accepting her current reality. She added that she has "lived unimaginably hard times" over the last four years and has "managed to break free, but lost just about everything."
She had announced her marriage on "James Martin's Saturday Morning" in February 2025, revealing she would be using the surname Greenwood. In January 2024, she shared a proposal photo on X, formerly Twitter, stating, "My love proposed to me on New Year's Eve... and I said Yes!"
Vasey, who also appears on "Countryfile," built her career supplying foraged ingredients to Michelin-starred restaurants. Her passion for foraging began in childhood, learning from her grandfather, whose own foraging practices stemmed from necessities during World War II. She launched her business, Yorkshire Foragers, in 2010 with her first husband and mother.
