Channel Nine's Sylvia Jeffreys confessed to orchestrating a wardrobe prank on her colleague Jayne Azzopardi, dressing her in a red top that Azzopardi, a fan of the NSW Blues, detested.

Jeffreys, a staunch supporter of the Queensland Maroons, admitted to arranging the outfit as a jest ahead of the deciding State of Origin game. Azzopardi, visibly pleased to have changed back into a blue top representative of the NSW team, revealed the prank on air.

"I did get to the bottom of just who was responsible for messing with my wardrobe this morning, that saw me wearing red," Azzopardi stated. "Sylvia Jeffreys has outed herself!"

Jeffreys responded with a smile, "Caught maroon-handed! It was me."

Azzopardi indicated she planned to retaliate the following day. The discussion between the hosts touched on the color of the offending top, with Jeffreys confirming she selected it specifically.

"I bleed maroon, I don't need to dress maroon," Jeffreys explained, referencing her allegiance to the Queensland team. "Is there anything better than a decider at Suncorp Stadium?"

The show has frequently featured debates about the State of Origin series, particularly when Karl Stefanovic, a Queensland supporter, was part of the program.

Queensland was favored to win the series, having previously dominated NSW in the second game. The series was tied at one game each heading into the decider. NSW secured a 22-20 victory in the second game after a controversial penalty against Queensland's Kalyn Ponga. Historically, only three NSW teams have defeated Queensland at Suncorp Stadium in a decisive game.
