Alysia Vasey, known as The Yorkshire Forager and a regular on James Martin's Saturday Morning, has revealed she is divorcing her husband after less than a year of marriage, alleging a "toxic" relationship.

Vasey claims her husband, whose identity she has not publicly revealed, made derogatory remarks about her family and refused to support her decision to have a necessary knee operation. She stated on Instagram that he called her family "Polish scum" after learning her grandfather fought in World War II. Vasey also shared that her husband threatened to leave her if her knee surgery did not go well, saying he would not want to be with a "disabled person."

"Living a toxic life is no good for anybody," Vasey wrote on Instagram. "I made excuses to myself thinking, they didn't mean it. But if you're dealing with this or you've managed to escape then please share in the comments and rebuild brighter and better."

She announced the split earlier this month, stating that the marriage had been over since before Christmas. Vasey said she felt she had been "taken for a ride" and that her partner had "racked up bills on her credit card," leaving her feeling trapped and having lost "just about everything."

"I feel like coming clean because there's no point wearing a wedding ring when your marriage is over," Vasey said in an emotional video shared with her followers. She admitted feeling "a bit embarrassed" but stated, "it is what it is."

Vasey, who also appears on the BBC program Countryfile, became a full-time forager after a childhood spent learning about wild foods with her grandfather. She supplies ingredients to Michelin-starred restaurants across the country. She previously appeared on James Martin's show in February 2025, when she revealed she had married and was using the surname Greenwood. In January 2024, she had announced her engagement on X, formerly Twitter.
