Tuscan Property Market Attracts Wealthy Buyers with Diverse Offerings

A notable Tuscan estate, Poggio Covili, featuring an 800-square-meter stone farmhouse with 11 bedrooms and nine bathrooms, has been listed for sale. The property is situated in the UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia, in the province of Siena, near towns such as Pienza, Montepulciano, and Montalcino.

Poggio Covili is characterized by its striking cypress-lined driveway, a distinctive feature of the Tuscan landscape, and overlooks terrain that includes a private garden, a panoramic swimming pool, and a lake. The estate spans approximately 40 hectares, with nearly 39.5 hectares suitable for cultivation. Historically, the area was known as a resting place for travelers along the Via Francigena, a medieval pilgrimage route.

The farmhouse itself has been adapted to accommodate modern needs, currently housing four apartments and an additional independent bedroom. According to Dimitri Corti, founder and CEO of Lionard, Poggio Covili represents qualities of exceptional properties such as authenticity and a strong connection to place, with its cypress avenue being an iconic image of Tuscany.

Beyond Poggio Covili, the Tuscan property market offers a variety of luxury options. A three-story estate near Piazzale Michelangelo with views of Florence is available for €10 million (£8.4 million). For those seeking larger estates, a luxury villa in the province of Florence, boasting 15th-century architectural elements and modern amenities like a jacuzzi, is listed at €14 million (£11.8 million).

More accessible options are also available. A property currently operating as a tourist accommodation facility, complete with five apartments and a restaurant, is on the market for €900,000 (£756,000). This property features exposed beams, stone walls, fireplaces, a veranda, and a swimming pool.
