Trump Warns Houthis After Saudi Attacks, Suggests Turkey Could Assist

President Trump has issued a warning to the Houthis against launching further attacks on Saudi Arabia, suggesting that Turkey could potentially be enlisted to help address the Iran-backed group.

When asked if he would request Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's assistance in targeting the Houthis, Trump responded, "I might do it." He added, "I have a lot of respect for the president of Turkey. President Erdogan, I think, would do as I ask."

This statement comes days after the U.S. indicated it was considering retaliatory actions against the Houthis. The Yemen-based group had claimed responsibility for attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including one American citizen, and injured over 300.

The assaults on the Saudi airport occurred on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Surveillance footage from the incident showed people reacting amid smoke at the moment of the attack.

Trump has previously referred to the Houthis as a terror group. Turkey possesses NATO's second-largest army.
