President Trump issued a stern warning to Iran on Tuesday, vowing to retaliate "many times over" for each American soldier killed in the ongoing conflict. The statement came as tensions escalate between the two nations, with both sides carrying out new attacks.
At least 17 American soldiers have been killed since the war began on February 28. Three American service members died since Friday, and a fourth is missing and presumed dead. Trump announced his directive via Truth Social, stating, "Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!"
Trump indicated that this directive has been communicated to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Daniel Caine, and other military leaders. The President's remarks followed the identification of U.S. soldiers killed in recent Iranian strikes. Among those killed were Pvt. Isabella Gonzales and U.S. Army 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, who died at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on July 18, 2026.
On Monday, both Washington and Tehran engaged in a series of attacks. The U.S. conducted its ninth consecutive day of strikes. In response, Iranian forces targeted Kuwait and Bahrain, countries that host American military personnel. The conflict shows no signs of abating as retaliatory actions continue on both sides.
