Former President Donald Trump stated on Friday night that the U.S. military has "1000 Missiles Locked and Loaded" and is prepared to "completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran" if the regime attempts to assassinate him. Trump made the remarks on the social media platform Truth Social, asserting that orders have been given for a military response that could last for an extended period, subject to extension.
Trump told The Post that he has "left instructions" for a severe response, saying, "if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before." He stated that Iran has been targeting him for a long time, contributing to his readiness for such a scenario.
Iran has openly expressed a desire for Trump's assassination since 2020, following the U.S. strike that killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Gen. Qasem Soleimani. This week, banners in Tehran, displayed during the burial ceremony for the late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowed revenge against Trump. Chants of "WE WILL KILL TRUMP" and "I swear by the blood of the Supreme Leader, Trump, we will kill you!" were reported.
Earlier in the week, at a NATO summit in Turkey, Trump discussed Iran's alleged intentions, referring to Iranian leaders and stating, "I may be gone too. Because I’m their No. 1 target—it’s out all over the place. Because they’re scum."
