President Donald Trump arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday for a fundraiser at his Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. The visit, which began with his landing at LAX around 4:40 p.m. local time, is part of a trip that will also include a stop in Nevada.

During the event, Trump is expected to highlight his administration's economic policies, border security measures, and public safety agenda, while also criticizing California's Democratic leadership. White House spokesperson Olivia Wales stated that Trump planned to "tout his wins for the people of the Golden State despite failed Democrat leadership: the largest middle-class tax cut ever, the most secure border in American history, and a plummeting crime rate."

Governor Newsom Responds

Governor Gavin Newsom's office pushed back on Trump's visit, accusing the president of prioritizing fundraising over wildfire recovery efforts. "Donald Trump is coming to Los Angeles County to raise money while wildfire survivors are still waiting for the federal recovery funding he promised 18 months ago," a statement from Newsom's office said. "Californians deserve a president focused on helping families rebuild — not raising money for himself at his golf course."

Newsom's office also preemptively addressed potential criticisms regarding crime in California, asserting that crime rates are declining and that efforts to combat fraud are ongoing.

Trump's last official visit to California was in January 2025, when he toured areas affected by wildfires. The current visit is anticipated to cause traffic disruptions due to motorcade travel between LAX and Rancho Palos Verdes. Trump is scheduled to depart for Nevada on Wednesday.
