Former President Donald Trump posted a large volume of AI-generated images across his Truth Social platform on Sunday. The posts depicted Trump in numerous scenarios, including with historical figures and in imagined heroic roles, alongside attacks on various critics.
Among the images shared were depictions of Trump as a "Cosmic Commander" and in a time-travel scenario appearing to save President George Washington. Other images showed him with a "Trump 2028" cap, steering a ship in the Persian Gulf, and leading soldiers.
The former president also used the AI-generated images to target political and cultural figures. This included posts criticizing celebrities such as Rosie O'Donnell, Bruce Springsteen, and late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert, whom he described as "talentless not funny ex comedians" in need of money.
One image showed a large air filter at the U.S.-Canada border, a visual commentary on Canada's struggles with wildfires. Trump also posted an AI image of himself with President John F. Kennedy at the White House.
Critics on social media platforms like X, formerly Twitter, reacted to the posts, with some labeling the activity a "mental health episode" or "AI freak-out." Others shared the images, questioning the appropriateness and nature of the content, especially given current geopolitical events. One user noted that Trump appeared to be posting some images twice.
Democratic activist Harry Sisson documented what he described as "more than three dozen Trump posts on Sunday," sharing a list of some of the AI images and calling the activity a "mental health episode."
