Trump Unleashes 1,300-Word Tirade on Bill Maher, Calling Him a 'Total Loser'
Former President Donald Trump attacked comedian Bill Maher on Truth Social, disputing Maher's claims about Trump's approval ratings and the nature of their recent dinners.
Former President Donald Trump launched a lengthy attack on comedian and television host Bill Maher, labeling him a "complete, total loser" and a "sleazebag" in a 1,300-word post on his Truth Social platform. The broadside came after Maher, on his show "Real Time," claimed Trump "has the lowest approval rating of any midterm candidate ever" and joked about the length of a recent dinner they shared.
Trump, in what Factba.se reported as his longest social media post on record, criticized Maher's "low rated show" on HBO, which Trump stated "was once, long ago, a Network of Quality and Excitement — But that’s all gone."
The former president also targeted Chuck LaBella, a former associate of Maher, whom Trump claimed had repeatedly sought a meeting with him. Trump stated that LaBella, who also worked on "The Apprentice," had conveyed Maher's admiration and desire to meet. Trump recounted agreeing to dinners but refusing to appear on Maher's show, which he described as ending with "dishonesty."
Addressing Maher's assertion about his approval ratings, Trump dismissed it as based on "fake polls." He cited a CNN poll indicating his support within the Republican Party was at 98-99%, which he claimed was an "All Time Record High," surpassing Ronald Reagan's reported 86%. Trump also referenced a CNN poll that named him "The Most Influential President of the Last Century."
Trump detailed two dinners he had with Maher. The first, on March 31, 2025, also included Kid Rock and UFC CEO Dana White. The second dinner took place on October 15, with Stephen A. Smith also present. Trump claimed that LaBella and Kid Rock contacted him incessantly to arrange these meetings. He described Maher as "very nervous" and "insecure" during their first encounter, noting Maher appeared to have a "seriously bruised eye and nose area."
Contradicting Maher's account of the October 15 dinner lasting four hours, Trump stated it was closer to two hours or less, and that "everybody was happy." However, he also claimed he "learned nothing, and felt it was a waste of time." Trump suggested Maher reverted to his "former self" after the first dinner. He accused Maher of catering to a base he described as "mostly composed of Losers" and called him "gutless."
Trump also pushed back against Maher's on-air remark about Trump wanting to convert the White House press briefing room into a swimming pool. Trump clarified that he was considering relocating the press corps to a different location to gain much-needed space, but not to build a pool in the briefing room.
He praised Karoline Leavitt, who appeared on Maher's show, stating she "was GREAT" but "couldn’t be comfortable going against Lie after Lie." Trump accused Maher of lying about "all of the Illegal Voters" in California and other issues, concluding that Maher "isn’t worth" fact-checking.
In his Truth Social post, Trump also claimed Maher uses a "Laugh Machine" to generate audience reactions and stated he would instruct Republicans to stop covering Maher's show. He concluded by declaring he would never watch "Real Time" again, calling it "nothing more than FAKE NEWS."
Maher had not publicly responded to Trump's lengthy post as of the report. Factba.se confirmed the 1,300-word post was Trump's longest since 2011. Trump's earlier public comments about the October 15 dinner described it as "very informative" and "great."
