Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that "all the Jews are sick of you" during a heated phone call concerning a peace deal for the Middle East, according to new reporting.
The incident, detailed in the book "Regime Change" by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, allegedly occurred in September 2025 when Trump, along with his son-in-law Jared Kushner and envoy Steve Witkoff, grew frustrated with Netanyahu following an Israeli strike on Qatar. During the conversation, Trump was attempting to persuade Netanyahu to accept Kushner's 20-point peace proposal.
According to the book, Trump said to Netanyahu, "Everybody's sick of you, Bibi. All the Jews are sick of you." He then reportedly added, referencing Kushner and Witkoff, "Even the two Jews on this call are sick of you."
Kushner was later quoted as telling an ally, "I’m f***ing out. The Israelis are crazy," the book claims.
Trump, who has historically maintained a strong relationship with Netanyahu, insisted that the prime minister adhere to the peace deal, which was announced two days after the contentious call. "You can't back out of this. I'm the best friend Israel ever had. Everybody hates you, and I've stood by you. This is a great deal for Israel," Trump reportedly stated.
In recent weeks, signs of strain have emerged in the relationship between Trump and Netanyahu. Trump recently asserted that Israel would have been "eviscerated" without his support and suggested he needed to keep Netanyahu "a little bit sane," noting that the Israeli leader "has a lot of respect for me."
Trump has also voiced increasing criticism regarding the number of casualties from Israeli attacks, particularly those targeting the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon. He suggested that Israel could "behave better" and "do a better job" in its military operations.
However, US intelligence agencies reportedly warned that Netanyahu might attempt to "undermine" Trump's peace efforts, according to The Washington Post.
Amidst these tensions, Vice President JD Vance has also become more critical of Israel. Vance publicly admonished members of Netanyahu's cabinet who expressed disappointment with the newly agreed-upon deal. Vance stated that Donald J. Trump is "the only head of state in the entire world who's sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time."
He urged Israeli officials to "wake up and smell the reality," emphasizing the crucial role of the United States as Israel's primary ally. Vance specifically criticized Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for their public opposition to the deal, questioning their proposed solutions to Israel's security challenges.
