Trump to Rally in Nebraska City Where Alleged MS-13 Leader Was Arrested
The former president will campaign in Grand Island, Nebraska, the same city where federal authorities apprehended an alleged MS-13 assassination squad leader wanted for murders in Honduras.
President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, on Monday, joining U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts and Gov. Jim Pillen. The event takes place in a city that gained national attention last year following the arrest of Gerson Emir Cuadra Soto, 33, also known by the alias "Fantasma."
Federal authorities allege Cuadra Soto led "El Combo," an MS-13 assassination squad, and is wanted for four homicides in Honduras. According to an unsealed federal affidavit, he entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 and was later apprehended in the Omaha area on immigration-related charges. Honduran authorities suspect him in a July 2022 ambush near a Tegucigalpa nightclub that resulted in the deaths of four men, including the son of former Honduran President Porfirio Lobo Sosa.
White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis stated that the arrest of Cuadra Soto is an example of criminals removed from Nebraska's communities, contrasting this with policies she attributed to "radical Democrats." Bis claimed that Democratic policies have hindered federal law enforcement, while President Trump's administration "supercharged law enforcement to arrest the worst of the worst," leading to significant drops in violent crime.
Trump's appearance in Grand Island is part of a multi-state campaign swing ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Ricketts, a former Nebraska governor, is seeking to retain his Senate seat in the election.
