President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a primetime address on Thursday, which sources indicate will focus on newly declassified intelligence reports concerning alleged foreign interference in the 2020 election. The address is not expected to cover current international or economic issues.
Two White House officials told MS NOW that CIA Director John Ratcliffe, acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin are anticipated to join Trump for the broadcast. Pulte, a loyalist to Trump with no prior intelligence experience, has been granted authority by the President to declassify information as he sees fit.
Trump has consistently maintained that he won the 2020 election, despite Joe Biden's certification as president. Reports suggest a White House task force has been assembled to gather documents pertinent to the 2020 election, with findings potentially forming the basis of Trump's address.
An Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) report released in 2021 stated that foreign influence operations during the 2020 election aimed to denigrate Joe Biden's candidacy, support Trump, undermine public confidence in the electoral process, and exacerbate societal divisions. However, the report did not produce evidence of widespread interference that would have altered the election outcome.
Pulte is serving as acting DNI temporarily, with Trump having nominated Jay Clayton to the position, pending Senate approval. Earlier this year, former DNI Tulsi Gabbard was observed near an election facility in Fulton County, Georgia, during an FBI search related to the 2020 election. Gabbard stated Trump had directed her to observe the operation to preserve election integrity and assess potential foreign interference or vulnerabilities in election infrastructure. Trump, however, attributed Gabbard's presence to a request from former Attorney General Pam Bondi.
