Trump to Campaign in Ohio for Senator Husted
Former president to stump for Republican in a key Senate race.
President Donald Trump is scheduled to travel to Vandalia, Ohio, on Saturday to campaign for Republican Senator Jon Husted, who faces a competitive challenge from Democratic former Senator Sherrod Brown.
The stop in Ohio follows planned visits to Oklahoma on Thursday and Alabama on Friday. The Ohio Senate race is considered crucial for determining control of the Senate.
Trump had previously pledged to campaign in 35 competitive battleground races in the lead-up to the November midterm elections. Brown is seeking a return to the Senate after losing his seat two years ago to Republican Bernie Moreno. Husted, a prominent figure in Ohio Republican politics, previously served as a state lawmaker, House speaker, secretary of state, and lieutenant governor before assuming the Senate seat vacated by JD Vance when Vance became vice president.
Alex Triantafilou, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, expressed his hope for Trump's visit, noting the former president's ability to drive turnout in a state Trump won by 11 percentage points in 2024.
