Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend the college football game between the University of Tennessee and the University of Texas in Knoxville on Sunday, September 23, 2026. The announcement follows a week where Trump participated in the UN summit in New York.
A White House source confirmed the president's plan to attend the game, which marks the first regular-season meeting between the two teams and is a significant SEC opener. The game is set to kick off at 12 p.m. ET, with ESPN's College GameDay in town for the event.
Trump has a history of attending major sporting events. During his presidency, he attended the 2018 national championship game between Alabama and Georgia, the 2020 national championship where LSU defeated Clemson, and Indiana's victory over Miami earlier in 2026. He has also frequently attended the Army-Navy game and previously signed an executive order titled 'Preserving America's Game.'
The game will be held at the 102,000-seat Neyland Stadium, featuring No. 1 ranked Texas against No. 14 Tennessee.
Following the football game, Trump is scheduled to be in Chicago on Sunday for the final day of golf's Presidents Cup. He accepted an invitation to serve as the event's honorary chairman, continuing a tradition of world leaders hosting the biennial team golf competition between the U.S. and international players.
Trump previously served as honorary chairman for the 2017 Presidents Cup in New Jersey, becoming the second sitting president to attend the event. He also made history last year by becoming the first sitting U.S. president to attend the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
