Trump Threatens to Fire Advisers Over Work for Pro-Russia Party
The former president vowed to "terminate" consultants who advised a Bosnian political party while Republicans face the midterm elections.
President Trump on Wednesday threatened to "terminate" two key advisers after reports revealed they earned significant sums advising a pro-Russian political party in Bosnia. The revelation comes as Republicans are concerned about potential losses in the upcoming Nov. 3 midterm elections.
Trump stated on Truth Social that Chris LaCivita and James Blair, identified as outside consultants, "do not work for me, other than as outside consultants." He added that they "most likely have numerous clients" and that he would "ask them and, if there’s a conflict, I will terminate them, immediately!"
The work of Blair and LaCivita for the Bosnian party was disclosed Tuesday by The New York Times. The report noted the advisers earned "hundreds of thousands of dollars each" for their work, prompting surprise given their focus on Bosnian electoral concerns instead of domestic Republican challenges.
James Blair previously served as Trump’s White House deputy chief of staff for legislative, political and public affairs. He departed in May to lead Republican midterm efforts for the pro-Trump MAGA Inc. super PAC.
Chris LaCivita was a key figure in Trump’s 2024 campaign, working alongside Susie Wiles, who is now White House chief of staff. LaCivita remains an important outside ally.
