Trump Super PAC Spends $8 Million on Ads Attacking Rep. Tom Suozzi

A Super PAC aligned with former President Donald Trump has allocated nearly $8 million to support Republican challenger Mike LiPetri in his campaign against Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi. The spending, primarily through the No Going Back PAC, includes $5.7 million for television advertisements and an additional $2 million for direct mail within New York's 3rd Congressional District.

The anti-Suozzi advertisement alleges that the congressman voted against banning congressional insider trading due to personal financial gain, stating he has profited over $10 million from stock trades. "Tom Suozzi serves himself. Mike LiPetri will serve New York by banning politicians from insider trading and holding Congress accountable," the ad declares.

The No Going Back PAC is an offshoot of the Trump-associated Make America Great Again or MAGA Inc. PAC. Federal Election Commission filings indicate that Republican efforts in the race, including contributions from the Congressional Leadership Fund/House GOP political action committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and the LiPetri campaign, total approximately $8.5 million in TV ad spending targeting Suozzi.

Kim Devlin, senior advisor for the Suozzi campaign, refuted the claims in the attack ad, stating that Suozzi has not purchased any stocks since returning to Congress in January 2025. Devlin criticized LiPetri for accepting funding from Trump, whom she characterized as having traded more securities than any member of Congress combined since his return to office, calling the situation "height of hypocrisy."

Suozzi and LiPetri are facing each other again in New York's 3rd Congressional District, which encompasses parts of Nassau County and Queens and Suffolk counties. Suozzi, a former Nassau County executive, is seeking a second consecutive term in the House of Representatives after previously holding the seat. He resigned to run for governor in 2022 and subsequently won a special election in February 2024 to reclaim his House seat following the expulsion of former Republican Rep. George Santos.

In the 2024 special election, Suozzi narrowly defeated LiPetri by a 3-percentage point margin, a result closer than many anticipated. Although the Republican Party did not heavily invest in that contest, Trump's performance in the district during the presidential race likely aided LiPetri's strong showing.

The Suozzi campaign is running its own advertisements that portray him as a centrist who rejects extremism. One ad features Suozzi stating, "I don’t work for parties. I work for you," with a narrator adding that he "rejects extremism on both sides because you’re always there on our side."

Suozzi was recently honored with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's "Free Enterprise" award, marking the first time a Democrat has received the distinction. His campaign highlighted this award as proof of his capitalist principles.

Beyond the 3rd Congressional District, the No Going Back PAC is also supporting Republican challengers in other competitive races. The group is funding efforts for Jeanine Driscoll against incumbent Democrat Laura Gillen in the 4th Congressional District and for Republican Rep. Mike Lawler against Democrat Cait Conley in the 17th Congressional District.
