Trump Signs Executive Order on Women's Health, Praises Melania
The initiative establishes a new division within the NIH and a specialized task force.
President Donald Trump has signed a comprehensive executive order aimed at promoting women's health, an initiative conceived by First Lady Melania Trump. The order establishes a dedicated women's health division within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and creates a specialized task force to address key issues.
During a White House appearance, President Trump lauded his wife's efforts. "Melania works so hard. You wouldn't believe it, and she has accomplished so much in a very short period of time," he stated. "She's very smart, and she gets it."
The event included prominent figures such as Second Lady Usha Vance, Arkansas Governor Sarah Sanders, Cheryl Hines, wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
The landmark initiative will focus on expanding research into critical women's health concerns and accelerating the translation of scientific findings into new treatments. The task force will include health officials such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Mehmet Oz.
This marks the second major executive order spearheaded by Melania Trump during the administration. In 2025, she initiated the 'Fostering the Future' child welfare initiative, designed to support youth aging out of the foster care system by reducing homelessness and unemployment rates through educational and financial support.
Melania Trump's policy portfolio has expanded with this new health initiative. In August, she and the President appeared in the Rose Garden to promote 'Fostering the Future,' announcing a partnership with IndyCar and Fox Sports to increase scholarship opportunities for former foster youth. She stated, "Fostering the Future graduates will build new companies, launch new industries, and redefine what is possible for all Americans."
Previously, in May of last year, Melania Trump made history as the only First Lady to sign a bill into law. She championed the Take It Down Act, which offers protections for victims of revenge porn. President Trump invited her to sign the official document alongside his own.
White House Spokeswoman Allison Schuster stated, "Improving the health of all Americans is a top priority for President Trump and the First Lady, and this task force will work to close critical research gaps and strengthen care for women across all stages of life, targeting some of the most widespread health conditions affecting them."
