Former President Donald Trump shared an edited video on his Truth Social account that falsely depicts King Charles III appearing to ignore a collapsing Asda employee. The footage, originally filmed six years ago during a visit to a Bristol supermarket distribution center, was manipulated to suggest the King was uncaring.
In the altered clip, the Asda employee is seen falling to the ground, and King Charles appears to put his hand in his pocket and walk away. However, the full, unedited video shows Charles attempting to help the employee, remaining by his side as he received medical attention, and continuing their conversation afterward. The employee later expressed gratitude for the King's concern.
The doctored video was part of a three-minute montage posted on U.S. Labor Day, which aimed to present a more favorable image of Trump by contrasting him with other world leaders shown in a negative light. The montage included clips of former Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama, and French President Macron, portraying them as disrespectful or inattentive. Trump himself was depicted honoring soldiers and greeting police officers.
An Asda spokesman confirmed at the time of the original event that the colleague had briefly fainted due to the magnitude of the occasion but recovered and continued the tour, reassuring staff. The company expressed gratitude for the colleague's dedication.
Trump has previously expressed a positive relationship with the British Royal Family, stating he had a "good relationship" with both Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles. He also criticized Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for their decision to step back from royal duties, calling their actions "terribly disrespectful to the Queen, to King Charles."
