Former President Donald Trump on Sunday shared a cartoon image that depicts late-night television hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert as beggars asking for money on a New York City street. The image, posted on Trump's Truth Social account, shows the comedians in tattered clothing with signs stating they are "talentless, not funny, ex comedians, need money" and holding buckets for donations. A wall behind them is marked with "Late night is over."
Trump made these remarks and shared the image following recent criticisms of the hosts during a rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner on Friday. At the event, he referred to Kimmel, Fallon, and Colbert as "terrible" and "without talent."
The former president has a history of criticizing the late-night hosts, often calling them "talentless" and advocating for their dismissal. In September, he called for ABC to fire Kimmel after Kimmel's comments regarding the assassination of conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk. Melania Trump also called for Kimmel's termination in April after he made a remark about her appearance prior to the White House Correspondents' Dinner. In another instance, Trump criticized "NBC and ABC fake news" for not broadcasting his statements on alleged election fraud, suggesting their broadcast licenses should be revoked. FCC Chair Brendan Carr indicated that the decision not to air Trump's speech would be considered in an ongoing review of ABC's broadcast TV licenses.
CBS announced in July 2025 the cancellation of "The Late Show," hosted by Colbert, citing financial reasons amid a challenging late-night landscape. Jimmy Fallon faced criticism from Democrats in 2016 after an interview where he interacted with Trump, who was then a presidential candidate. Critics accused Fallon of
