Trump Shares AI Video Parodying Fatal Yorkshire Zoo Tiger Attack
Former president posted a digitally altered clip depicting him taming a tiger shortly after sharing footage of the actual incident, prompting pleas from the victim's family to cease circulation of sensitive media.
Former President Donald Trump posted an artificial intelligence-generated video parodying the fatal tiger attack at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, depicting himself wrestling and subduing the animal. The AI clip, shared on Trump's Truth Social platform, shows a digital version of the president taming a tiger to the tune of 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight.'
This post followed Trump's sharing of actual footage from the incident, accompanied by the caption, 'Don't ever mess with nature! President DJT!'
The real-life event involved William Chapman, 24, who died on Saturday after climbing into a Siberian tiger's enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Footage of the attack has circulated online, leading Chapman's family to urge the public to stop sharing it due to the distress it causes. They described him as a vulnerable individual who suffered from significant mental illness.
Witnesses at the park reported that Chapman had been dancing and requested a photograph with the tiger in the background before entering the enclosure. He reportedly fell approximately 12 feet into the enclosure before the tiger attacked. During the attack, he was heard shouting 'stop' and appeared to use Makaton, a sign language system, to signal 'bad.' Emergency services were called shortly after the incident.
Chapman's family released a statement through the police on Tuesday, expressing their devastation and highlighting his struggles with mental illness and prescribed medication. They emphasized that the coroner would determine the role these factors played in his death and requested respect for that process.
It was also revealed that Chapman had a past as a child actor, appearing in ITV's "May Contain Nuts" in 2009 and the BBC series "True Stories" in 2012. He also had a role in the ITV period drama "Breathless" in 2013. His acting work reportedly ceased during his adolescence.
