Trump Scolds World Leaders at UN, Claims Sole Credit for Confronting Iran Threat

President Donald Trump delivered a forceful address to world leaders at the UN General Assembly in Manhattan, asserting that he has been the sole actor confronting global threats, particularly the regime in Iran. Trump contended that his actions have reshaped the world to America's benefit and improved global security.

"While others have talked, I have acted. While others have spoken of peace, I have made it. While others have ignored threats, I have confronted them," Trump stated. He accused the Iranian regime of widespread human rights abuses, alleging that over 72,000 of its citizens have been killed this year, with 10,000 allegedly killed for protesting.

Trump directly addressed the international community, implying a lack of support for his administration's policies regarding Iran. "For 51 years, the fanatical Iranian regime has ruled by bloodshed and mass murder, spreading death and carnage and chaos across the entire Middle East and beyond," he said. "They were the bully of the Middle East, but they are the bully no more."

The president also discussed potential future actions concerning Iran, remarking that he has a "big decision to make" about whether to allow Iran to rebuild or to "annihilate the Islamic Republic and drive them into Hell."

He urged the United Nations to unite against Iran, suggesting that such unity would lead to a significant drop in global oil prices. Brent crude had already fallen to $98 per barrel on Tuesday, a decrease from $109 the previous week. To further influence prices, Trump outlined plans to increase the supply of Venezuelan and U.S. oil to global markets.

"When we have the United States and Venezuela together, we have more than 60 percent of the oil in the world," Trump said, referencing increased American influence in Venezuela's energy sector following the toppling of former dictator Nicolas Maduro.

Turning to the Western Hemisphere, Trump reiterated warnings about Cuba's dictatorship and heralded progress in combating drug cartels, which he described as "the ISIS of the Western hemisphere."

The president also highlighted efforts to resolve the Israel-Gaza conflict and ensure freedom of navigation in contested waterways as top priorities. He touched upon the recent anniversaries of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel.

First Lady Melania Trump was in attendance, with her own events planned for the week focused on her education policy agenda.
