Trump's Triumphal Arch to Serve as Military Complex with Drones and Snipers

Former President Donald Trump announced Sunday that his planned Triumphal Arch in Washington D.C. will be converted into a "top grade Military Complex" intended for national security purposes, equipped with drones and snipers.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the arch, slated for construction near the Arlington Memorial Bridge, would "house, store, and have the rapid ability to use large numbers of drones, plus Snipers, on both the roof and plaza areas." He added that the structure would also hold "large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage."

Trump, who has described the arch as an effort to "beautify DC" and recognize America's 250th birthday, claimed that Washington D.C. is the only capital city in the world without a Triumphal Arch. The 250-foot structure is planned for a traffic circle adjacent to the Arlington Memorial Bridge, a location that has raised concerns about potential interference with views of nearby monuments and its proximity to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Despite some opposition, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed Friday that the arch would not pose a hazard to flights at DCA. However, Democratic lawmakers have voiced continued concerns regarding its potential to complicate airspace.

The excavation for the arch was reportedly expected to begin this month. Trump asserted that the completed structure would be unparalleled globally, stating, "There will be no facility like this anywhere in the world."
