Trump's Granddaughter Arabella Kushner Takes Center Stage During Xi Jinping's White House Visit

Arabella Kushner, the 15-year-old daughter of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, played a notable role during Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the White House on Thursday.

Kushner was prominently positioned alongside top political figures as Xi Jinping arrived for formal talks with President Donald Trump. Her presence was described as intentional, leveraging her fluency in Mandarin.

This is not the first time Arabella's language skills have been highlighted in relation to Chinese leadership. In 2017, during President Trump's visit to Beijing, he showed Xi a video of a young Arabella singing Chinese poetry in Mandarin. That performance earned her praise from Xi, who reportedly called it an "A-plus" effort. During that same trip, Trump also showed Xi a video of Arabella addressing him and his wife, Madame Peng Liyuan, as "Grandpa Xi" and "Grandma Peng" while standing before the American flag.

Arabella began learning Mandarin at 18 months old, studying with a Chinese nanny and at school. Her mother, Ivanka Trump, then a senior White House advisor, had previously shared videos of Arabella singing in Mandarin, with some Chinese social media users dubbing her the "friendship messenger."

During Thursday's arrival ceremony, Arabella, wearing a cream floor-length dress, stood with her mother, Ivanka Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife Usha. She later took a front-row seat next to officials including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as remarks were delivered.

It remains unclear if Arabella had direct conversations with Xi Jinping or China's first lady during the event.

President Trump opened the state visit by speaking of a "truly great friendship" with Xi, built on mutual respect. He also called for China to cooperate more closely with the U.S. to avoid friction as the two global economic powers compete. Xi, in his remarks, described Chinese and American interests as deeply intertwined, advocating for healthy competition that stays within bounds and resembles a race to improve rather than a zero-sum contest.
