During a campaign event in Las Vegas, Nevada, Donald Trump quickly intervened when a toddler attending the event began to wander towards the edge of the stage. The incident occurred on Wednesday at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa as Trump discussed his economic policies.
Trump had invited a Las Vegas couple, Sandra, a casino waitress, and Brad, a police officer, along with their two young children, to the stage. As Sandra began speaking, her toddler son started to move across the stage. Trump noticed the child approaching the edge and rushed to secure him.
Upon returning to the podium, Trump remarked, "I don't want him to be Biden and fall off the stage." This was a reference to a 2023 incident where President Joe Biden stumbled while handing out diplomas at the U.S. Air Force Academy commencement. Trump then continued with the event, with Sandra expressing gratitude for policies like the "no tax on tips and overtime" initiative and "Trump Accounts."
Later, the toddler was brought to the microphone by his mother, where he repeated, "Thank you for my Trump Account." The audience responded with applause and cheers, and Trump commended the child with "Good job!"
The "no tax on tips and overtime" policy, part of Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," allows individuals to deduct up to $12,500 of qualified tip or overtime earnings from their federal taxable income. Joint filers can deduct up to $25,000. The policy can be claimed in addition to the standard deduction.
Trump Accounts, established on July 4, 2025, and effective from July 4 of the current year, function as custodial-style traditional IRAs for minors. Parents can open an account for any U.S. citizen under 18 and contribute up to $5,000 annually. The funds are invested in mutual funds or exchange-traded funds that track the S&P 500 or similar equity indexes, with a minimum of 90 percent invested in U.S. companies. Children gain access to the funds upon turning 18. U.S. citizens born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, are eligible for a $1,000 government seed deposit if a Trump Account is opened in their name.
